How I Got My Self-Published Book Into My Local Library (and How You Can Too)
A short and simple guide to getting your book onto library shelves
When I self-published my book, Let’s Talk About Love, on Amazon KDP, I dreamed of more than just online sales. I wanted it in the hands of people in my city, and I wanted it to be included in my local library — a place I had spent so much time in throughout my life.
I had discovered so many amazing books throughout the years, from big-name authors to local ones, and knew the impact an easily accessible book could have.
When it came time for my book to hit the library shelf, the process was surprisingly simple: I visited the library’s website, completed a local author request form, and submitted it, along with a copy of my book, to the designated department.
In this post, I’m sharing how I did it to hopefully inspire you to get your self-published book into the library as well. And if you want even more details, please click the video below where I explain the whole process.
So, what about you? Have you ever thought about getting your self-published book into the library, or have you completed the process? Let me know in the comments, I’m all ears!
Also, if you enjoy my posts and want to support my work, you can always buy me a coffee. Every bit of encouragement helps me to create and keep sharing my thoughts and experiences. Thank you for reading!

I’m not yet published, but I have talked to a local library and small bookstore about their method to get local authors in their catalog.
They’re very excited about doing so, and expressed interest in meet-and-greets and book signings. It’s a great way to get involved in and bolster your local community. You never know what opportunities you might be missing if you don’t ask.
Congrats on getting your book in a library that means so much to you.
Nearing the publishing date of my book and I really appreciate your journey.
